Towards a new European agriculture

“… we are convinced of the necessity to retain the CAP as community policy, and also as a bulwark for European farmers who for the last 50 years have looked on Europe as their home.
… Renationalization of the CAP would drag Europe into a tangle of distorting measures and there would be no guarantee at the end of it all, that it would cost less than the CAP costs now.
In fact, the sum total of the support measures applied by the single states, might rapidly exceed the resources available with less benefit in terms of efficiency.”
